Humor is tough to write. To be able to take the cold written word and make someone laugh at what they read is an art form unto itself. Moreover, of all the different types of humor out there, observational must be the hardest of all. It takes a special kind of humorist to look at the little things in life, find the kernel of humor in each one-and then present it in such a way that others are in agreement with you. When done well, you get someone like Jerry Seinfield: the King of the Observational Comedians. Now here comes a new voice up to the microphone, so to speak, and manages to hit a home run with his first swing. I Got Jokes and Anecdotes by author John Pechacek is a collection of 30 essays, ranging from cell phones to why it is better to be a kid than an adult; from why love makes you fat to sports and the men who watch them. Each comment, each viewpoint he expands upon will make you at the least find yourself in agreement, but more than likely, smile if not laugh right out loud. This is a very easy read, another compliment to pay to the author-it
helps to make it more accessible to the majority of readers. I guess
the best way to describe I Got Jokes and Anecdotes is that is a neat
fun book to keep around to pick you up when you need a chuckle-and who
couldn’t use a chuckle nowadays. This one will do it.
